About Ian Bird...
Ian Bird began refereeing in 2006 at the Port Talbot League and progressed 'the old fashioned way' through each rank of South Wales Amateur League and Welsh League. He joined the Welsh Premier League assistant referee list in 2012 and has since earned a contract as a Specialist Assistant Referee which means he specifically performs the role of linesman in elite level matches. In 2015 he graduated from the UEFA CORE programme which led to the pinnacle of his profession - being included on the FIFA Assistant Referee list in 2016. For which he begins his sixth year with the badge.
His role has seen him officiate in 19 different countries to date involving competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Nations League, UEFA European U17 Championship finals (Croatia 2017) & UEFA European U19 Championship finals (Finland 2018) in addition to 4 different National Premier Leagues.
