National RA Zoom Meeting Nights

Updated: Oct 15, 2020

The first of the national RA's centrally-run “Zoom Meeting Night” specials is being held on Monday evening next week, 22nd June 2020. For the coming weeks, the RA have lined up a whole range of speakers from the Refereeing World, plus guests from other sports, all of whom will be sharing with you their insight and experience. The aim is to educate, offer development opportunities, share experiences and (above all else) have some fun! They will be holding bi-weekly events on alternate Monday evenings, and “attendance” for each event will be on a “first come, first served” basis. So please come and join us next Monday evening, when we are delighted to welcome Rugby League legend Brian Noble MBE as our first guest.  He will be talking about the relationship between player and referee, and (as you will see from his biography below) we are guaranteed a great night of entertainment and education. When: Monday 22nd June 2020 Time: 19:00 to 21:00 hours Please register in advance for this meeting using the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYlduysqjgqGN27xALv7oHk8eA-4Ng8eiaW Once you have registered in this way, you will receive a confirmation email containing all the information you need about joining the meeting on the night. And after the Meeting, we would very much appreciate receiving your feedback regarding your event experience, plus any suggestions you might have for improvement and/or development.  Please get in touch with us in all cases via: contact@the-ra.org

About Brian Noble MBE:

Brian is currently a TV pundit on both Sky Sports and the BBC for Rugby League. Has appeared on Question of Sport and Sports Personality of the Year amongst other programmes. Played Rugby for Bradford Northern, which became Bradford Bulls with the inception of the Super League. With the move of the game to full-time, he quit his job as a police officer in Bradford. Captained the GB team that toured Australia in the 1980s, and at the end of his career became an Assistant Coach of the Bradford Bulls. He became their Head Coach in 2000, and under his guidance and leadership he took the Bulls to 3 World Club Championships, won 3 Super League Grand Finals, 1 Challenge Cup Final, 2 minor Premierships and became the "winningest" coach in the history of the game. In 2006, after a glittering time at Bradford and amid much controversy, he departed the Bulls to take on the role of Head Coach for Wigan (a Bradford lad born and bred, but Yorkshire to Lancashire!), as they desperately sought to avoid relegation. It looked a hopeless task, but Brian got them to safety. He was appointed Head Coach to the GB side touring "down under" and was the first coach since the inception of the professional game to lead the GB side to a test match win against the Wallabies, a game recently shown again by Sky Sports as a "Greatest Sporting Moment". He helped create the first team from Wales to play in the Rugby League (Crusaders) and latterly in 2013 Salford Reds. He was  later appointed Football Director of the first team in Canada to play in the Rugby League, Toronto Wolfpack. From an embryonic position, they achieved Super League status in 3 Seasons. Brian resigned from that position earlier this year. and is now considering his options. He was awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to charity and Rugby League.
